Nominate an ASAE Fellow

Do you know someone who is a leader, an innovator, and an active member of the ASAE community?  Now is the time to nominate them to become an ASAE Fellow.

Nominations for the 2005 Class of ASAE Fellows are due by November 10th, e-mail fellows@asaenet.org.

Since 1986, the ASAE Fellows Program has recognized the leading thinkers and doers in the association community.  Over the past few years, the Fellows program has evolved to support ASAE's new strategic goals.  The objectives of the Fellows program are to:

  • Reflect a diverse community of thought leaders that create and expand on both knowledge and insight into the strategic issues of the profession and industry
  • Recognize transformational leaders and identify and develop future leaders
  • Assist ASAE in areas such as the Future Leaders Conference or in the identification of future trends and issues
  • Reflect the responsibility to serve and lead through their active leadership and support of ASAE and ASAE Fellows activities and programs

Successful candidates must be an ASAE member for at least five years. They will be selected based on their ability to assist in the achievement of the above goals and their demonstrated ability to:

  • Push the boundaries of the association industry and profession
  • Envision and leverage future forces
  • Take risks and innovate
  • Participate, serve, and lead within their profession and within ASAE

Any individual may nominate an ASAE member to become a Fellow by e-mailing fellows@asaenet.org.  (Self-nominations will not be accepted.) Nominations must include the nominee's name, organization name, address, telephone number, and e-mail address. Nominees will receive an application, which must be returned to ASAE by December 1, 2004.

Congress to Return for Lame Duck Session After Election
On September 29, Congress approved a continuing resolution to fund federal departments and agencies through Nov. 20, meaning lawmakers will be back for a post-election lame duck session to complete work on appropriations bills for Fiscal Year 2005.

Of the 13 annual spending bills, only one funding the Defense Department has been signed into law. Congress is close to completing a FY2005 Homeland Security spending bill and hopes to finish several others before its planned October 8 adjournment. GOP leaders have said they will likely bring Congress back for the lame duck November 15.

The passage of a CR of that length more than a week before adjournment was unusual, and signaled that Congressional leaders are ready to admit that partisan deadlocks and procedural delays are likely to continue to stymie efforts to pass legislation until after the November 2 elections.
