ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership Unveil New Brand and Logo
In January 2005, ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership began a nationwide branding effort to introduce our combined organizations to association professionals and industry partners. In April 2005, both the ASAE & The Center boards reviewed recommendations for the overall direction and nomenclature of the brand. This name, ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership, builds upon the 95% name recognition for ASAE as uncovered in the research phase of the project, while making clear the partnership relationship of ASAE & The Center. It will be used to brand programs, products and services of both organizations. The logomark represents both our desire to build a warm, welcoming community as well as our commitment to enhancing the performance and achievement of our members.
Our new brand is more than a name or a logo. It represents our dedication to consistently improving your experience at every turn. The brand builds upon the legacy of both organizations, and it shows how we will increase our value as we move forward. Our brand builds on our heritage while challenging convention and setting new standards. We have developed the following statements to define what we do and what members can expect from us.
OUR CAUSE (why we exist) ASAE & The Center help associations transform society through the power of collaboration.
OUR VALUE PROPOSITION (what we do) ASAE & The Center connect great ideas and great people to inspire leadership and achievement within the association community.
OUR PROMISE (how we serve our stakeholders) We promise to provide exceptional experiences, a vibrant community and essential tools that make you and your organization more successful.
OUR GUARANTEE Our goal is to provide truly exceptional offerings and service, and we won’t be happy until you are. If any programs, products or services of ASAE & The Center do not fulfill our promise, we will make the situation right or refund your money.
Changes have also been made in the GWSAE Network name to brand it more effectively with the names, ASAE & The Center. The new name is the “Greater Washington Network.” This change also allows for the NCSAE Network to be treated consistently, and become the “Northern California Network.”
ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership are two organizations that share one mission and one brand promise. Each organization is strengthened by the success of the other. Our brand supports our commitment to advance the profession of association management and the role of associations in society, while at the same time building upon a promise to deliver excellence and innovation in all of our programs, products and services.
The brand is the first step in a journey that is marked by key milestones and developments. On the horizon is the launch of our new magazine, Associations Now in October 2005. The new Web site launches in January 2006 and will be followed by enhanced membership benefits, and a renewed focus on delivering value to CEOs.

Stay on Top of the Annual Meeting with the XtremeASAEBlog
Stay on top of the Annual Meeting with the XtremeASAEblog. The 2005 ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership Annual Meeting is going full-speed ahead. Whether you’re with us now in Nashville or not, you can see what’s going on through the XtremeASAEblog, a chronicle of what’s happening at the Annual Meeting. Your bloggers—the writers whose thoughts you'll be reading—are several experienced bloggers from the association community who just couldn't wait to get started, so check out the blog now and after the annual meeting.
Here’s a recent post from Kevin Holland, of the Association Blog, to whet your appetite. Here’s what Kevin had to say about Malcolm Gladwell’s (author of Blink and The Tipping Point) general session presentation.
|
What Do You Know? Gladwell's presentation this morning was everything I thought it would be—funny, well presented, thought provoking. If you've read the book, like I just did recently, the stories and concepts were familiar, but nonetheless compelling.
I believe that Jeff and several other bloggers here are going to post more details from the session, but I did want to mention one aside that I thought was priceless (and judging by the applause, so did a lot of other people). Gladwell told the story about a famous tennis coach—I forget the name—who spent thirty years meeting with all the greats of the sport for lengthy conversations, to soak up their knowledge of tennis.
He told Gladwell, "After thirty years of talking with the greatest tennis players in the world, the only thing I've learned is that they don't know anything about tennis."
And Gladwell said this morning: "Think about that the next time you convene a focus group of your members." |
