AH&LA Resources on Hotel Labor Relations

ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership, along with the rest of the association community, continue to monitor the status of hotel labor negotiations in several major cities this year, including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Toronto and Honolulu. ASAE & The Center hope for a quick but fair resolution to the remaining disputes impacting the lodging industry in these important destinations. Maintaining the health of the multi-billion dollar meetings and conventions industry is critical to our success.

To keep meeting planners informed about the ongoing labor negotiations and to reinforce the hotel community’s strong commitment to our business, the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA) has unveiled a new section of its website specifically dedicated to labor relations, at www.ahla.com/labor. AH&LA has also developed a new brochure called “Meeting in the Middle” that outlines issues planners may face when negotiating contracts with hotels. The brochure is being distributed by AH&LA to many meeting planners, and can also be found on the association’s website.
