Create The Right Environment to Foster Successful Nondues Revenue Programs
In today’s competitive world, you may be faced with a shifting paradigm in managing your association finances. No longer can we be content with accepting dues payments and selling products and services we think members want; we must think and operate more like the nimble for-profit entities that are competing with us for member dollars. Traditional cycle times in associations must make way for entrepreneurial thinking and planning! How do you create the type of environment that encourages real entrepreneurs in your association? Hear what it takes – from the ground up – to plan products and services with clear business objectives in mind that will help level the playing field between your association and its for-profit competitors. Learn how to build consensus to get buy-in from the right people at the right times, and discover the critical role of the organizational champion in any entrepreneurial project. In this content-rich virtual seminar you’ll also hear how to walk the delicate line between the revenue project and the legal impact it may have on the association. Timing is everything…take your revenue streams to new heights of innovation and creativity by embracing the techniques used by for-profit entrepreneurs – and then reap the benefits! Worldwide Reach, Passport Optional When Board and Staff Align And the Show Goes On FEC Puts New Limits on Political Groups but Leaves Room for "Soft Money" Spending
The Federal Election Commission (FEC) issued a ruling Feb. 18 that non-party political organizations must use regulated "hard money" for activities that "promote, attack, support or oppose" federal candidates. The 4-2 ruling further stated that outside political organizations could use a mix of hard and soft money for activities that benefit federal, state and local candidates. The FEC decision came in response to an advisory opinion request from a Republican 527 group called Americans for a Better Country (ABC), seeking clarification on the extent to which activities by outside political groups could be funded with soft money. The nations’ new campaign finance law, the Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act, restricts unlimited soft money contributions to political parties, but leaves open the flow of big money donations to outside political groups organized under Section 527 of the tax code.
