Fax Bills Passed by Senate Commerce Committee and House

The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee passed legislation today (S. 2603) to correct the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) proposed new regulations governing fax communications, with no amendments. The potential exists, however, that the bill could be amended once it goes to the Senate floor.

ASAE is strongly urging Senators to support S. 2603 without amendments so that it can be quickly reconciled with an identical bill in the House (H.R. 4600), which was passed earlier this week by unanimous voice vote.

To contact your Senators and urge them to vote for S. 2603 without amendments, please visit http://capwiz.com/asae/issues/alert/?alertid=6096556.   To learn more about this and other issues visit the ASAE Public Policy Web site at  www.asaenet.org.

New Scan to Plan Publication to be Released at ASAE Minneapolis 2004

NEW!
From Scan to Plan:  Managing of Change in Associations

By James G. Dalton, CAE

What are the current impacts of change?  How should managers deal with them?

Executives often overlook these two questions because they are so busy dealing with the increasing rate of change and are understandably concerned about keeping their organizations viable in the future. Yet placing too much emphasis on an organization’s future can create present-tense problems for the people who work in it.

This new publication helps you find the balance. Building upon From Scan to Plan:  Integrating Trends Into the Strategy-Making Process, published in 2003 by the ASAE Foundation, it focuses on how association executives can identify and manage the changes already affecting the culture of their workplaces. It addresses change management from three points of view: the mid-level manager who must manage one major change initiative from a project perspective, the CEO who must manage the ongoing change initiatives from a process perspective, and the elected officer who sees the need for change from the standpoint of the association’s mission and vision.

Look for this new publication to be released at ASAE Minneapolis!  Pre-order your copy by calling Member Services at 888-950-2723 or within the Washington D.C. area, call 202-371-0940.  Product code 218104 - ASAE Member $19.95 - Nonmembers $24.95
